How PeopleSense Works
PeopleSense uses passive infrared (PIR) sensing to detect movement and count people passing within a two metre range of the device from any direction.
Accurate and robust, the PIR technology in PeopleSense provides reliable counts in a wide range of indoor and outdoor settings. PeopleSense can be configured to report count totals in time blocks as granular as required*.
With on-board firmware offering a range of optional features and configurations, PeopleSense allows you to precisely tailor solutions for your specific people counting applications.
* 10 minute time blocks i.e. 6 x count groups/hour is default.
Flexible Counting and Reporting
PeopleSense can generate alerts each time a pre-set count threshold is reached. This makes it easy to trigger service actions e.g. bathroom cleaning, based on facility usage.
PeopleSense can also be configured to count people only if standing in front of the device for more than a minimum time period e.g. 15 seconds (but count delay threshold can be set for up to several minutes). This improves accuracy when monitoring usage of specific facilities, such as kiosks, as passing footfall is not counted.
PeopleSense defaults to sending updated count data at hourly intervals but can be set to report more or less frequently, as needed.
Remote Configuration Update
PeopleSense settings can be updated remotely over the network, avoiding the need to travel to site to adjust device parameters such as reporting interval. This makes it easy to adapt your PeopleSense solution as requirements change.
Remote configuration changes can be made to individual devices, or as a bulk downlink to a defined group of devices.
Secure and Flexible Data Connectivity
PeopleSense connects to the 0G Sigfox network*, a global wireless network designed specifically for secure and reliable transmission of device data.
You can access your device data through PiP's mobile or web visualisation dashboards or API connection. Alternatively, you can integrate your device data directly from the LPWAN gateway into your existing platform or systems.
